Home, sweet home - Burton Mail

8th August 1991
Gresley Rovers have been handed a surprise home start to their West Midlands League campaign.

Rovers had been scheduled to travel to newly promoted Cradley Heath for their opening day fixture on Saturday August 17th.

Problems with the Black Country club’s pitch have forced them to switch the game to the Moat Ground. The match at Cradley will now be played later in the season.

Gresley secretary Rod Summers explained: “The ground is not going to be ready for Premier Division football so the match is being switched to Gresley.”

The league’s management committee meet tonight and are likely to take disciplinary action against Cradley, who have assured them that the necessary ground improvements would be made in time for the new season.
