Fuming Frank fines the lot - Burton Mail

2nd September 1991
Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood slapped instant fines on his entire first team after Saturday’s dismal 2-1 defeat at Westfields.

Northwood, who two days earlier had shown Stuart Stokes the door for “lack of effort”, saw two dreadful defensive errors present the Herefordshire side – putting together their best start to the West Midlands season for years – with a shock victory.

And afterwards he stormed: “You can’t present a team with a two-goal lead and expect to come away with anything from a place like Westfields.

“We’ve still got fellows in the side who aren’t trying – and you can’t go out and play with what amounts to nine men. All but the subs will get fined for lack of effort.”
