Newly-promoted Gresley Rovers have clinched the signing of 23-year-old midfielder Tony Marsden from Beazer Homes League rivals Grantham Town.
The Derby-based player has been snapped up by Moat boss Steve Dolby after becoming available at the end of last season.
Dolby said this morning: “Craig Weston played with Tony while he was at Grantham and says he’s a good player. Grantham manager John Robertson made him skipper a season-and-a-half ago which speaks highly of him.”
Marsden is a left-sided midfield player described by Dolby as “a ball winner – but one that fits in with our footballing style.”
The acquisition is one of a string of signings planned by Dolby as he builds up his squad for Rovers’ assault on the Beazer Midland Division.
He said: “I hope to announce a couple more next week.” Among Dolby’s targets are at least two other players with good experience at Beazer Homes League level.
