Gresley Rovers face another FA Vase away day – if they can beat Rushden & Diamonds in tonight’s replay at the Moat Ground (7.30pm).
The winners of tonight’s game play Slough-based Beazer Homes League Southern Division strugglers Burnham in the third round, but Moat boss Steve Dolby was today looking no further forward than tonight.
“I can’t say much about the draw until we’ve got tonight’s game out of the way, but if we were to get through it’s another away game and another long trip and that’s disappointing.”
Dolby adds Graeme Rigg and Scott Elliott to the 13 players on duty in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Rushden and predicts another close affair tonight.
“We’ve perhaps got a slight advantage now that we’re at home but I don’t suppose that’s going to make a great deal of difference. It’s going to be another tough, tight game.”
Should Rovers go through tonight they will face a team with a Vase pedigree of it’s own, Burnham reached the semi-finals of the competition in 1983 before losing to Halesowen Town.
