Speculation mounts

8th July 2003
Reports in the local press have speculated on various names supposed to have "thrown their hats" into the ring to fill the post of manager.

Some well know names in both league and non-league football have emerged.
Names such as Steve Walsh the former Leicester City defender who has spent time with Tamworth since finishing league football and is now without a club.

The former Shepshed Dynamo boss and Leek Town assistant manager Mark O'Kane is another along with former Rocester managers Mark Bromley and Carl Wilcox.

Steve Dolby a former boss at the Moat Ground is also named as a possible applicant as is former Atherstone United manager Kenny Willis who knows the non-league scene very well and is used to working with a tight budget.

Chairman Mark Evans and his fellow directors will have a tough decision to make but Evans as hinted that Rovers might shy away from appointing another "big name" former player saying; "It may be time for us to make a different type of appointment. We may possibly go for someone who is close to the club geographically and look at someone with good experience and coaching credentials."
