Hucknall pre-match news

1st October 2004
Gresley Rovers go into the FA C up 2nd qualifying round against Hucknall with "nothing to lose" according to Moat boss Gary Norton.

The Conference North outfit visit the Moat Ground looking to continue a recent upturn in results following Ernie Moss being replaced by new boss Dean Barrick two weeks ago.

Norton said: "It's going to a be really tough game but one that we are relishing. We have nothing to lose and if we can play how I know we can we can make life uncomfortable for them. They are on a roll at the minute, winning their last 3 games since Dean came in but this is the FA Cup and anything can happen. On our day we are good enough to cause an upset and more importantly, we believe that we can do it. Confidence is high at the moment and Saturday will give us a chance to measure ourselves against a Conference outfit and see where we are at"

Norton has a full squad to pick from with Andy Simpson returning to the squad after a one game suspension and the only major injury concern being goalkeeper Dale Belford. "One or two of the lads have knocks at the minute but nothing that will stop them from taking part on Saturday. However Dale is struggling with a back injury at the moment but he should be OK for the game," said Norton. "He has been feeling his back after games and its starting to give us cause for concern as it seems to be getting worse after the last few games. He's been having treatment most days and we have been able to get him through but it's obviously a concern."

Reserve Goalkeeper James Pemberton joins the squad on the bench.
