The end of this season sees a new format for promotion with champion clubs going in to a pool from where they will be allocated their league for next season by the Football Association in conjunction with the newly formed amalgam of senior leagues, the Alliance. All but six of the UniBond League Premier Division clubs have applied for promotion with Bamber Bridge, Bishop Auckland, Bridlington Town, Frickley Athletic, Gateshead and Prescot Cables not looking to go forward at this time of asking although, realistically, with five of those clubs in the bottom six at the time the closing date for applications passed their decisions are not a major surprise.
In the First Division all but five have applied for promotion with again it being the lower placed clubs who have not put their names forward. Colwyn Bay, Rocester, Rossendale United, Shepshed Dynamo and Warrington Town are the clubs opting out this time round.
Applications for promotion from the two feeder leagues normally associated with elevation for their champion clubs to the UniBond League, the North West Counties League (NWCL) and the Northern Counties East League (NCEL) total sixteen whilst there are nine applications from the Midland Football Alliance (MFA) which could possibly impact on the UniBond League. Yet again there are no clubs from the Northern League seeking promotion at the end of the current season. The following have applied -

Colne FC

Skelmersdale Town
