James will be Rovers' jewel - Kenno

9th April 2000
Gresley Rovers boss Brian Kenning thinks he has unearthed a real gem after signing Bolehall Swift's defender James Roberts.

Fans will have to wait to see the new recruit in action because he is suspended for a month. However, Kenning is delighted to have signed the 22 yr old who he thinks could be a big hit at the club. Kenning said "Sometimes you get really excited when you sign a player and I think Roberts will turn out to be a very good player." He can play anywhere along the back line and even in mid-field and he fits the Moat managers bill of being a good young player. His suspension means that the fans will probably have to wait until the last game of the season to see him in action, but he is regarded as a real bargain.
