It only seems like five minutes ago since we missed out on promotion when Kendal grabbed a gut wrenching last minute winner back at the beginning of May in that thrilling play off final up in Cumbria.

The new campaign starts on 19th August but before that the club has arranged a series of pre-season matches to get the players in tiptop condition and so the Gresley Rovers players reported back for training on Saturday morning to start their preparations.

A gentle jog around the village in sweltering heat began the day with more "formal" sessions planned for later.

As well as all the familiar faces there were a fair number of new ones going through their paces.
