In the First Division Eastwood Town have gone two points clear after walloping Brigg Town in midweek by six goals and then coming from behind to put a dent in Alsager Town's impressive away record at the weekend.
Indeed there were goals galore this week in the lower tier and nowhere was that more true than at Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday where a 7-3 win over Clitheroe enabled Avenue to close to within two points of second place Buxton who, after hitting four in midweek, were involved in the First Division's only goalless game of the week at Gresley Rovers. Ronnie Morgan hit a four timer for fourth placed Cammell Laird in midweek and was again on the mark in a 1-1 draw at Shepshed Dynamo at the weekend whilst Colwyn Bay occupy the final play-off berth thanks to narrow away wins at the bottom two clubs. It was a good week for Harrogate Railway who picked up six points including a 6-1 win over struggling Chorley who stay next to bottom after their tenth defeat in eleven games but one club celebrating a draw were Wakefield FC in midweek as their point at Clitheroe on Tuesday was their first of the campaign.
In the FA Cup there were wins for Marine and Fleetwood Town but Matlock Town, Witton Albion and sole First Division survivors Ossett Albion must all try again after draws.
