Allcock injury latest

24th October 2001
John Allcock could be out for at least three months.

After seeing a specialist about a troublesome hamstring injury he was told that it could take up to three months to heal.

During the first game of the season at Halesowen, John received a bad knock to his thigh which caused internal bleeding. The bleeding has calcified causing a growth of bone deep in his thigh. During an ultra-sound examination by a specialist on Tuesday, it was discovered that this bone had grown to 3cm long. John has been advised to rest for a month and then the injury will be scanned again to see if an operation is required to remove the bone.

John told gresleyrovers.com "I am gutted due to really enjoying my time at Gresley."

After Saturday's match against Chippenham Town John McGinlay said:"Losing John Allcock to injury is a big loss. When he plays he's such an inspiration because the players look to him and the opposition look to him as well, they know he is an handful, so to lose him is a big disappointment. We've got to somehow cope with that disappointment, whether we bring in someone for the time being is an option we are looking at the moment."

We all wish you a very speedy return to the team John.
