Gaz Norton's Reserve Team News

It was pleasing to see many “Rovers Faces” at the game and I apologise to those that went for the poor display that we put on. Melbourne’s direct and physical approach to the game was something we talked about beforehand and that combined with the very small pitch very much gave them the advantage. To be honest, we struggled physically and we were denied the space we usually get that enables us to get the ball down and play which is very much our style. That said, I don’t want to take anything away from Melbourne, they wanted it more than many of our lads and deserved to win. Good luck to them in the next round.

One plus point was the fact that Alex Green came through 90 minutes without feeling the back problem that he has struggled to shake off recently. Alex broke his nose during training last week but was still keen to play and he came through well, looked reasonably fit and hopefully it wont be long before he is back in the 1st team.

A week last Saturday saw us return to league action away at Banbury. Id like to thank the Rising Sun pub who through Mark Evans loaned us their Minibus for the trip down the M40. The game went very well with us recording a 4-0 win to continue our good run of form in the league. Ryan Yearsley, Kev Wagstaff, Danny Lonergan and Matt Moran scoring the goals.

Next Saturday we are away to Willenhall in the league before we entertain Hinkley Utd here on the 17th. November 24th see’s us back on the road, away to current League leaders, Solihull Borough.
