Ilkeston pre-match news

14th November 2001
John McGinlay looks set to stick with the side who played so well on Saturday against high-flying Stourport Swifts for tonight’s Dr Martens League Cup first round match at the Moat Ground. Kick off 7.30pm.

Gresley’s opponents are Dr Martens Premier side Ilkeston Town who are lying eighth in their league at present.
McGinlay said that it would be a tough test and a measure of the progress his side has made since the beginning of the season.

“It will be a good gauge for us because they are a decent side and will provide a tough test but one we can overcome. I’m looking forward to it.” said the Moat boss.

Chris Gray is available after his one match suspension and Ryan Ford has recovered from his calf problem that kept him out of the side against Stourport. Steve Hutchinson will be missing due to work commitments and McGinlay has ruled himself out due to a calf injury.

“It’s going to be hard for me to make changes because on Saturday everyone did so well. That means the boys coming back to the side may well have to wait for their chance. There is no rush to change things. As the saying goes if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” remarked McGinlay.
