Sutton pre-match news

16th November 2001
Gresley Rovers could see three familiar faces when they visit Sutton Coldfield for their Dr Martens Western Division league match tomorrow.

Former Gresley boss Brian Kenning is assistant manager and their side could include two former players Neil Kitching and Richard Gardner.

John McGinlay says that this could give them an added incentive to try and stop Gresley’s unbeaten stretch of 11 matches and take the three points.

“They will be desperate to put one over on us but they have a similar record to us so I think it will be a fairly even match,” he added.

Gresley will be without three key players for the match. Stuart Evans damaged ankle ligaments during their 1 – 0 defeat of Ilkeston Town in the Dr Martens League Cup on Wednesday and could be out for up to six weeks.

McGinlay said: “Stuart could be out for four to six weeks but once the swelling goes down we will get a better idea of how it is.”

John Allcock is still missing due to a long-term injury while Steve Hutchinson is still unavailable due to work commitments.
