Bloxwich resign from league

28th November 2001
Bloxwich United, formed during the summer merger of Blakenall & Bloxwich Town, have resigned from Dr Martens Western Division.

Last night's match against Bilston was called off because Bloxwich United had pulled out of the league mid-morning yesterday.

It is yet to be confirmed what will happen to the points teams have picked up against the West Midlands club, but Gresley will only lose one point from their 1-1 draw at the Moat Ground in September if the points are wiped out.

Looking at the tables as they stand today, it would not be so good for the likes of Atherstone United (7th)and Evesham (5th) who could lose 6 points each and would drop down the league to 12th and 7th respectvely.

Halesowen Town would leapfrog to the top of the league over Chippenham, Solihull & Clevedon.

Gresley's position would not change neither would Rocester has the Romans had not played Bloxwich. Swindon Supermarine would remain rooted to the bottom of the table as they had played Bloxwich once and lost 2-0.
