Frank plans swoop - Burton Mail

28th November 1985
Gresley Rovers may be on the verge of signing a new goalkeeper. Manager Frank Northwood is looking around for a keeper to replace out-of-form Martin McNamara.
And the man he is after is Wednesfield Social’s Mark Griffiths.

“I think the time has come when I have to look for a new keeper,” said Northwood. “To be fair to Martin he has been injured in recent weeks and has been below his best.”

McNamara was one of the heroes of Gresley’s early season FA Cup run but his mistake cost the side a goal in Saturday’s 3 – 0 FA Vase defeat at Hinckley.

Rovers have been given a massive incentive to bear Buxton in Saturday’s re-arranged Derbyshire Senior Cup tie at the Moat Ground.

For the semi-final draw has paired Rovers with Multipart League Matlock Town at the Moat Ground.
