Frank’s keeper shock - Burton Mail

24th January 1986
Gresley Rovers manager Frank Northwood has carried out his threat to axe goalkeeper Martin McNamara.

McNamara is dropped for tomorrow’s trip to Lye Town to make way for new signing Carl Austin.

Austin impressed Northwood in Tuesday’s friendly against Rushall Town and makes his Banks’s West Midlands League debut tomorrow.

Northwood said: “McNamara has done a good job for us this season but now I feel Austin is the man for the job.”

Also brought into the side is midfielder Dave King for his third spell with the club.
