Rovers' King in surgery scare

1st September 2000
Dave King
Dave King
Gresley Rovers' Dave King was set to undergo a specialist scan on the troublesome knee that threatens to rule him of football until Christmas.

King (pictured) has already been diagnosed as suffering ligament damage that is expected to rule him out for several weeks.

But Moat supreme Brian Kenning confessed he feared King has also sustained cartilage damage that would almost certainly force the player under the surgeon's knife.

This would mean a two to three month recovery period, which, taking into account time needed to regain match fitness, could sideline, King until the Christmas period.
