Old pals act - Rex Page – Burton Mail

13th December 1986
Gresley Rovers have waded in with an offer of help to ease Burton Albion’s cash crisis.

Rovers have agreed to visit Eton Park in the New Year to defend the Johnson Cup – and they have told Albion they can keep the gate receipts.

Rovers’ boss Frank Northwood said today: “We’re all in this business together and it’s a sad state of affairs if we can’t help each other out from time to time. We kept the gate receipts when Burton last played for the Johnson Cup at our place, so it’s only fair during this difficult time for them that they should keep the money this time round.”

The game has been provisionally arranged for Wednesday, February 18th.
