Car crash keeper out - Burton Mail

18th December 1986
Goalkeeper Karl Austin is almost certain to miss Gresley Rovers’ Banks’s League game at Tividale on Saturday.

Austin, injured in a motorway crash on his way to Tuesday’s game against Wednesfield Social, hoped to make a swift recovery.

But manager Frank Northwood said last night: “It looks very much as though he won’t be in our side. He’s still very shaken and his doctor has advised him that he ought to give Saturday a miss.”

Austin’s emergency replacement, reserve team boss John Wayte, is expected to keep his place in the side.
