Norton Picks Up Lengthy Ban

7th October 2000
Gary Norton
Gary Norton
Assistant Gary Norton has received a 12-week suspension after being sent off late in the 2-2 home draw with Boldmere recently.

However Gary is hoping this will be significantly reduced on appeal. "The refs. report is a bit blunt and does not really reflect the situation, their guys put his face into mine and as I did the same he went away holding his face. The linesman saw the incident from a fair distance and the sending off occurred. I'm not saying it should not be a sending off but 12 weeks is very harsh. It also leaves me very embarrassed as I should be setting an example to the team and I apologised to Alan, Brian and Mark Evans for letting the Club and myself down. It was a silly thing to do and I should know better. I will definitely learn from the situation"
