Plum draw - Andy Parker – Burton Mail

15th July 1987
Lancaster Gate yesterday produced two cup ties sure to set local football circles buzzing.

Gresley Rovers’ bid to produce their best ever FA Cup run must start with one of the toughest fixtures possible on August 29 – a visit to Banks’s League title rivals Tamworth.

Rovers supreme Frank Northwood said last night: “Visiting Tamworth will be a money-spinner and it’s sure to be an interesting game – but it’s a long way off yet.”

Gresley, exempt to the First Round of the Vase, will meet Harworth CI, Gainsborough or Skegness at that stage of the competition on October 17th.
