Philpott out in Gresley shock - Burton Mail

5th August 1987
Alan Philpott has quit his job as Gresley Rovers’ coach in another top-level shake up at the Moat Ground.

Philpott – appointed only a month ago following the sacking of Jeff Bourne – walked out after clashing with Rovers boss Frank Northwood.

Northwood admitted last night: “We simply didn’t see eye-to-eye.” He explained, “There were too many fundamental differences in how we felt the team should play. We couldn’t even agree on who should take the throw-ins.”

Northwood has swiftly filled the breach by giving the job to former player Glenn West.
