It is the first resignation to hit the Banks’s League this season. Armitage, Brereton’s neighbours, withdrew three days before the start of the campaign after encountering similar problems.

Neither Rovers nor Tamworth, one of their main rivals for the Banks’s League title, will lose any points as a result of Brereton’s record being expunged.
