Nose-bite rethink - Burton Mail

24th November 1987
Gresley Rovers goalkeepers Bob Aston, the man at the centre of the notorious nose-biting incident, has earned a stay of execution on his 56-day suspension.

Aston failed to win his appeal against the ban – but Staffordshire FA officials have agreed to reopen the case in the light of new evidence.

The Stoke based player was suspended after an alleged incident at the end of a game between Eastwood Hanley – his previous club – and Leek Town.
