Keeper D-day for Frank - Burton Mail

23rd August 1988
Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood will await the outcome of three fitness checks before naming his side for tonight’s tough opening assignment in the Banks’s League Premier Division at Oldbury (7.30pm).

Northwood’s first major decision will be to decide whether to recall goalkeeper Bob Aston.

Aston has missed three pre-season games because of a shoulder injury and his under study, 19-year-old former Chesterfield player Simon Harrison has been in excellent form.

The other doubts surround Player-of-the-Year Martin Dick, who has still not shaken off the effects of a close season operation to repair a tendon injury and defender Peter Perry, who has an ankle injury.
