Frank Northwood plunged back into the transfer market last night to reinforce his injury-hit attack.
The Gresley Rovers boss found an immediate replacement for last week’s capture Tracey Norton by snapping up Shepshed Charterhouse front-runner Paul Acklam.
The move came little more than 48 hours after Norton’s Gresley debut had been curtailed by a knee ligament injury at Wolverhampton Casuals on Saturday.
Acklam started and finished last season at the Moat Ground and goes straight into Rovers’ side for the Banks’s League Premier Division clash at home to Tividale tonight (7.45pm).
Northwood, however, has to delay naming his side because midfielder Steve Astley and striker Ian Wells both have to take fitness tests after also suffering knee injuries on Saturday.
But talented midfielder Richard Denby should return to the Gresley ranks after shaking off a hamstring strain.
