Frank Northwood last night ruled out the likelihood of a players’ mutiny in the wake of Phil Marandola’s departure.

The Mail sports desk yesterday received an anonymous phone call from someone claiming to be “speaking on behalf of Gresley Rovers players.”

“If Phil Marandola leaves the players will walk out,” said the caller.

Northwood said, however: “I’ve heard it all before. The same thing was going to happen when I got rid of Roger Davies, but it didn’t.”
