Gresley Rovers manager Frank Northwood has swiftly filled the breach caused by the sacking of Phil Marandola by naming veteran defender Steve Dolby as the new Moat Ground coach.
And after the controversial rift with his former right-hand man, Northwood is expecting a happy marriage with the latest in a long line of track-suited generals.
“I don’t expect any rows with Steve,” said the tongue-in-cheek Gresley boss. He explained: “It’s a good move for the lad especially at a time when injury has stopped him from playing. He’s still hoping to get over the injury and play again, but that’s for the future. For the present there’s a job for him to do and he’s more than happy to be given the chance.
“He’s a popular fellow with the players and a very good clubman. I think things should work out very well.”
