Rovers invite back Guest - Burton Mail

23rd June 1989
Sacked utility player Michael Guest has been reprieved by Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood.

Guest was booted out by Gresley and subsequently missed out on two cup final appearances after an incident on a club weekend at Blackpool at the end of the last season.

But after pleading his case in a letter to Rovers, the former Halesowen player has been given a second chance.

Guest described his behaviour as “unreasonable and out of character.” The reasons for Guest’s dismissal have never been revealed by Rovers officials, but the incident is believed to have also involved midfielder Andy Moore.

Moore was also sacked for a breach of club discipline.
