Rovers rocked - Burton Mail

23rd October 1989
Injury-hit Gresley Rovers received another blow on Saturday when striker Kieron Smith suffered a suspected depressed fracture of the cheekbone.

Smith was led from the field in the 82nd minute of Rovers’ 2-2 Banks’s League cup draw at Paget Rangers and taken to Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield, leaving Gresley to play out the game with 10 men.

Rovers boss Frank Northwood said afterwards: “Kieron’s injury is a terrible blow to us.”
