Gresley Rovers have completed the signing of highly rated striker Derek Christopher from Paget Rangers.
And Rovers boss Frank Northwood revealed last night that Christopher – top scorer in the Banks’s League last season with 32 goals – was so keen to come to the Moat Ground that he paid his own transfer fee!
“There was a fee involved, but Derek paid it himself,” said Northwood.
Flu victim Ray Skeemer is doubtful for tomorrow’s visit of high scoring Halesowen Harriers.
Adaptable Steve Astley will drop into the back four if Skeemer fails to recover in time.
“I just hope we get a good crowd behind us.”
Rovers are confident that, following work on the Moat Ground pitch, it will be fit.
