Gresley manager Frank Northwood is not rushing to sign new players – despite a mini exodus from the Moat Ground this week.
Following the sacking of midfielder Stuart Stokes, it emerged that fellow midfielder Andy Moore and striker Andy Maddocks were about to disappear from the frame.
Northwood has been speaking to a number of players recently with a view to strengthening his squad but has so far had no joy. Former Burton Albion and Kidderminster full back Kevin Collins’ response to an approach from Gresley was typical: “He said he would have joined us if we’d have been in the Beazer Homes League,” said Northwood.
And he admitted: “I’m looking for a striker and a midfield player. But my priority is a left back which would allow me to move Scott Elliott back into midfield.”
