Rovers hoping to cash in - Burton Mail

13th December 1990
Gresley Rovers are stepping up their bid for promotion to the Beazer Homes League – by having a good night out!

The club’s latest fund-raising venture is a New Year’s dance at Burton’s Bass Social Club.

And manager Frank Northwood explained: “As well as an opportunity to give all our supporters a good night out, we are also looking at this as an important fund-raising project.

“We’ve spent a lot of money on the pitch and the facilities at the Moat Ground in our drive to provide a better standard of football at Gresley.

But we’ve got to keep the pot boiling to reach Beazer Homes League standards and that means raising more funds.”

The dance, on January 4, features TV comedian Steve Ford, cabaret, disco and buffet. Tickets £5 each, are available from the Moat Ground or from Gresley committee members.

Said Northwood: “We hope all our supporters will come along, have a good time and get behind the club.”
