Snow stops spy mission - Burton Mail

14th December 1990
Gresley Rovers take a step into the FA Vase unknown against Raunds Town tomorrow – thanks to last weekend’s cold snap.

Manager Frank Northwood admitted today: “We would have had a look at them last weekend – and no doubt they would have had a look at us – but the weather put paid to that.

“That means we don’t know much about them or them us. But they’re obviously doing well in the United Counties League and I understand they’re a physical side but they can play as well.

“They’ve scored quite a few goals so it’s up to us to be on top form. Having said that, the players certainly won’t need to be motivated because they know how much it means to Gresley to get into the draw on Monday.”

Northwood has a full-strength squad to choose from but was giving no hints away today of his team selection. But it seems likely that he will make one change – bringing in new signing Carl Rathbone to the attack.
