White to Crewe
Gary White

Gary White

Young defender Gary White is to spend three days at Crewe and possibly play for their reserves at Oldham Athletic on Wednesday.
Crewe are the latest league club to show an interest in the former Leicester City and Stoke City youngster who has already turned out for Bradford City in a reserve match against Sunderland.

According to Gresley manager Jon Newsome White has been one of the most consistent players in his side this season and he said: “I don’t want him to go, however, at 19 he is getting a great opportunity at a club that is well known for bringing on young players and there is no better place for him to go really.

“I have said in the past that I would not stand in any players’ way if they can improve themselves. Gary could have joined bigger clubs than us in the summer but I think he wanted to play alongside his brother Chris at Gresley. Unfortunately that has not happened due to Chris being out injured.

“I told him when he came that I would not stand in his way if the opportunity arose and I will not. As long as the club get something reasonable out of it I am not going to force him to stay under contract.

“I’m not going to put a £1 million price tag on his head, but by the same token I am not going to let him go for a bag of balls!”
