Frank to put boot in

Heavyweight hero Frank Bruno swaps his boxing gloves for football boots to kick off the charity clash between Gresley Rovers and Stapenhill at the Moat Ground tonight (7.30pm).
Bruno will be on hand at Gresley to sign autographs and start the match which is in aid of Radio Derby’s Money Mountain appeal.

Big Frank will be taking a break from preparations at Springs Health Hydro near Ashby where he has been gearing up for his fight comeback on November 20.

A “friendly” it may be but there will be no love lost between the two sides. The areas other favourite Frank, Rovers boss Northwood, has already appealed to fans to turn out in force for the cause and he will certainly be dealing the Swans no favours, today naming a 16-man squad for the clash.

Bob Sykes’ Swans are also expected to be up to strength, with Dean Coppinger, Andy Tunnicliffe and possibly two more from the reserves being drafted in to the side which beat Chelmsley Town 3-1 on Saturday.

Local charities will benefit from tonight’s fund-raising match and other appeal activities, including the Red Cross.

Rovers from: Aston, Moore, Barry, Land, Page, Evans, Elliott, Wardle, Weston, Denby, Venning, Smith, Rathbone, Acklam, Dick, Lovell.

Swans from: Bolton, Arthur, Thompson, Dolman, Pearsall, Carlin, T Coppinger, Barnes, Marsh, Mable, Pitt, Lee, D Coppinger, Tunncliffe.
