Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood dubbed last night’s 2-0 win over Rushall Olympic “our best performance of the season” – and got instant backing from coach Steve Dolby.
After goals from Jason Minton and Paul Acklam had enabled Rovers to leap ahead of third-placed Rushall in the West Midlands League table Dolby said: “We seem to be building a bit of consistency now and putting a run together – I’m very pleased.”

But Northwood hit out at supporters who barracked his team in the second half, saying: “I can’t understand why they got on our backs. You’ve got to keep possession – and that’s what we did. We dominated the game from start to finish.”

Rovers now hope to have skipper Richard Denby fit for Saturday’s trip to Oldswinford as they bid to chalk up a third consecutive league victory.
