Frank title call to Rovers
Story courtesy of
Sacked Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood today told his former players: “Win the league title for me.”
Northwood still reeling after his shock dismissal on Sunday evening said this morning: “I’ve spoken to all the players and everyone of them is devastated. Some of them are confused, and some of them are saying that they don’t want to play. But I don’t want any part in that.

“If they didn’t play they would be letting me down. Gresley need to win two more games to clinch the title and I would like to think that they’ll play those games for me.”

Northwood said that, despite his dismissal, he had no intention in staying away from the Moat Ground. He declared: “I’ll be there for the next home game against West Bromwich Town a week tonight, shouting the boys on. I signed every one of them, so why shouldn’t I?

“Gresley may be paying the money, but it still my team.”

Coach Steve Dolby takes control of the team when they meet for the first training session of the post-Northwood era tonight.
