Gresley Rovers are planning to toast their promotion to the Beazer Midland Division – and the loyal band of workers and helpers who got them there.
Rovers are staging a party at their social club on Saturday night to celebrate their step up the football ladder.

And top of the guest list will be the people whose muscle power helped to transform the Moat Ground in time for the grading inspection.

Secretary Rod Summers said: “A lot of people put in a lot of hard work. This is our way of thanking them.”

Rovers fans, however, will have to get used to the idea of paying more to enjoy their football.

The minimum charge set by the Beazer League next season is expected to be £2.50 - £1 more than fans paid to watch Rovers in action in the West Midlands League.

Also new to the Midland Division next season will be Influence Combination champions Evesham United and Weston-super-Mare, who topped the Great Mills Premier Division.

Dudley Town are relegated to the West Midlands League, but Alvechurch survive because only three clubs have been promoted.

In the Southern Division, Canterbury City are relegated to the Kent League and Gosport Borough to the Wessex League.

All four relegated Premier Division clubs – Wealdstone, Poole, Gravesend and Fisher – go to the Southern Division.

The Premier Division receives Cheltenham Town from the Conference to replace promoted Bromsgrove Rovers.
