Briscoe cup boost for Rovers
Story courtesy of
Gresley star Robbie Briscoe has turned down a big money move to GM Vauxhall Conference.
The news comes as a big boost for Rovers on the day of their biggest game of the season so far.

Moat boss Steve Dolby revealed last night that Briscoe had rejected the chance to move to top Conference side Telford United.

As he plotted the downfall of Burton Albion in tonight’s tie at the Moat Ground Dolby said: “Robbie told Telford he was happy at Gresley. As far as he’s concerned Rovers are a great club. That’s a terrific tribute to everyone here.”

Telford, who also chased Rovers defender Stuart Evans during the summer only to be warded off by Dolby, made a seven-day approach for Briscoe last week.

But Dolby waived the formal notice period and told Telford: “Go ahead and speak to him.”

And Briscoe repaid Dolby’s faith by telling Telford he was staying put.

Said Dolby: “They offered Robbie a lot of money and wanted him to forget Rovers and play for them tonight. But he said Gresley had a big game and he wasn’t prepared to just forget it. So he told Telford to forget him.”
