New Assistant Manager Announced
Martin Rowe has been named as Gary Norton's new assistant manager at Gresley FC.
The vastly experienced former Belper Town and Mickleover Sports manager takes over the role from Tony Hemmings who left the club at the end of last week.

Rowe started his managerial career over 16 years ago with stint at Borrowash Victoria before moving to Belper Town where he spent 8 years successful years in charge at Christchurch Meadow.

During that time he led the Nailers to Quarter and Semi Final appearances in the FA Vase, won the NCEL League Cup and gained promotion to the UniBond Football league.

After his time at Belper he then spent over 5 years in charge Mickleover Sports in the NCEL winning the club promotion to the Premier division as well as winning the League Cup - before being sacked - ironically whilst Sports were sitting top of the league.

Rowe was appointed manager of Shepshed Dynamo in the UniBond at the start of the 07/08 season where he was assisted by Gresley's new First Team coach Simon Van-De-Broucke but the pair were dismissed from their roles at Butthole Lane after a poor start to the season whilst in the middle of trying to rebuild the side.

He spent last season keeping his hand in by scouting games at steps 4,5 and 6 and will undoubtedly prove to be a good acquisition by the club with his vast experience of the game and network of contacts.

On his new assistant manager Gary Norton said: "We are delighted that Martin Rowe has agreed to come on board with us at Gresley FC.

"I got to know Martin well whilst he was manager at Mickleover Sports and we have kept in touch fairly regularly ever since.

"Martin possesses vast experience in the semi professional game and from my own point of view he ticked all the boxes in what I was looking for in an assistant.

"Tony Hemmings will be a hard act to follow but I believe that in Martin Rowe we have got the best possible replacement at the club in terms of the experience and knowledge of the game he will bring."

He added: "Martin has worked with our coach Simon Van-De-Broucke at both Shepshed and Mickleover so will fit in to our new management setup nicely.

"I'm very much looking forward to us starting to work together. These are exciting times for our new club and I very much hope that Martin enjoys his time with us at Gresley and helps us to achieve our goals over the next few seasons."
