Elvis Gresley the mascot of Gresley FC has a new sponsor. Jon Paul Burnton of Jon Paul menswear has agreed to become shirt sponsor of the popular mascot for the next couple of seasons, up to the end of the 2011/12 season.
Jon Paul menswear is one of Swadlincote’s long established businesses which trades on the High Street. It sells high quality mens fashion wear and runs a formal wear sales and hire service for weddings and special occasions.

Jon Paul Burnton has been talking about his link with the club. He said: “Over the years I have met several people from the football club through my work and I like to keep up to date with their progress even though I can’t make it to the ground on a Saturday with it being a busy day in the shop.”

“I’m particularly encouraged with the progress that is being made by the new board, management and players and so I want to put something back into the local club and the community. I know Elvis will be spending time as an ambassador for Gresley FC at events and on special occasions.”

Elvis Gresley proudly displaying the Jon Paul menswear logo will be attending the South Derbyshire Festival of Leisure at the end of June and has a date on 18th July to meet with other mascots at the County Ground, Derby when the Derbyshire Falcons face Yorkshire Carnegie in the Friends Provident t20.

The Gresley Manager, Gary Norton, commented on this deal. “It’s good that local businesses are prepared to support Gresley FC in this way. We have made a great deal of progress on and off the pitch over our first year and we are looking for local businesses to support us.”

“I understand another of the priorities determined by the board is to increase the number of boards up at the ground and I’d urge anyone who is interested in the club to consider this as it makes a big difference to us all when we can see that the club is thriving commercially.”
