Southport match news
John McGinlay asks fans to get behind the team in tonights game against Southport.
“Southport will come to the Moat Ground a different side to that we saw on Saturday. They’ll have a point to prove but if the fans get behind us like they did in the second half at Southport it will have an effect on us. Our ground is tight so it will be intimidating and if the vocal support is as good as Saturday then who knows?”

They like to play with wing-backs using the width of their pitch but it may not work as well at the Moat Ground and we need to be sure we cut down the space they are given.

“I just hope the players believe in themselves because they showed what they are capable of on Saturday. I said to the lads before the game that we might catch them on an off day. I don’t know if it will happen again because they are a very good side. Their position in the Conference shows that.

“An early goal for us tonight will put pressure on them however, an early goal for them will settle them down.”

McGinlay remains confident that his team can pull off a shock result although he did say that underdogs don’t very often get two bites of the cherry.

One player missing tonight is Ryan Ford who has finished his loan from Notts County.

“Ryan did a fantastic job for us and I wish we could have done something permanent with him.”
