Spalding Pre-Match News
Gresley Rovers have made three new signings this week ahead of Saturday’s tough trip to second placed Spalding United in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midland Division.

Rovers are on the road for the second weekend running and couldn't be facing a tougher test having played league leaders Harborough Town last time out.

Gresley will once again be without the injured Chris Jones who has an abdominal injury and is said to be about a week away from a return to action. Also missing is midfielder Dylan Hunniford who needs more time to recover after limping off during last weekend’s game with shin splints. Jayden Cotterill continues to be unavailable for personal reasons whilst John King is hopeful that he can shake off a bout of midweek Illness. Richard Hanslow returns to the squad having missed out last week due to illness but Tolani Omatola, who limped out of the action after 20 minutes last week with a hamstring injury, misses out.

In other news, the squad is boosted by the addition of a hat-trick of new signings in Jenson Cooper, Ainsley Finney and Omreiki Myles.

Cooper has experience in the league having previously been at AFC Rushden and Diamonds and Walsall Wood. He signed for Redditch United in the summer but found himself recently making the move to Belper United in search of game time. The former Shrewsbury Town academy player adds a much needed attacking option to the squad and is described as “an old fashioned number nine who is strong, quick and aggressive”.

Speaking about his new signing manager Marc Strzyzewski said: “Jenson’s representatives at Route One Sports Management contacted me on Tuesday stating that Jenson, who is local to Gresley, was on the look out to get back to step 4. We kindly accepted the offer and look forward to working with him. I would like to go on record and thank Belper and Manager Alex Steadman in their help and cooperation in making this happen given he recently registered for them”.

He continued: “We have also secured the services of another forward in Ainsley Finney from Newark and Sherwood, Ainsley is an experienced, strong and hardworking forward who certainly knows where the net is. After speaking to him this week he took no time in accepting the challenge to join us in our bid to climb up the table and we are delighted to have him on board.

Midfielder Omreiki Myles, 19, has also signed for the club from Rugby Town. Omreiki was previously with Aldershot Town's Academy before a spells Isthmian League outfit Hartley Wintney FC and Rugby Town. On his third addition of the week Strzewzski said: “Omreiki is a high energy midfielder with good technical ability and a good range of passing and is another player who was keen to come in and help us in what we want to achieve here at Gresley”.
