Good afternoon, everyone and welcome to our final home game of the season. It really saddens me that this is the last time we will be playing competitive football at the moat ground this season and the aim is to cap it off on a high and take all three points.
More..
Regardless of where or who these final games are up against its all about getting points on the board, we know how difficult that will be but there is a strong belief and confidence we have enough to get the job done and survive. Looking back to last weekend on a points perspective we certainly would have welcomed more than the one gained against fellow relegation rivals Rugby but from a squad and development point of view there was certainly a lot to draw from and learn. The Boldmere score line certainly flattered them as a side and certainly knocked a bit of wind out of our sales but to pick ourselves back up and show how much we are willing to fight for each other only 2 days later was exactly what was needed.

Although the Rugby game for many was deemed as must win but with 4 fixtures remaining and the position we find ourselves for myself it was more of a must not lose, certainly when your welcomed with the news Rushden have gone to league leaders Harbourgh and won. It’s certainly made things interesting for everyone now as all 3 teams will look at their remaining fixtures with a belief they can pull it off.

Our first of the four remaining games is today as we face a Lye town side that will still be holding to a hope they can sneak into the playoffs so with having their agenda to overcome we know it’s going to take a huge effort from everyone to come out on top. This now has to be challenge we relish and face with confidence, one aspect I’ve been immensely proud of over the recent weeks is how the group has come together and backed each other and no matter who has been called on or whatever role they have been given they have given everything and delivered a good level of performance.
The likes of Dylan coming into the midfield were he has been excellent, Nathan had to come in at left back which resulted in Josh playing centre half and both having outstanding games are just three examples to remain positive looking at the job ahead.

I’ve said it a number of times it’s going to take everyone now and it will be nice to welcome back a couple of the senior players this weekend.

I have to admit I’ve enjoyed getting back into the side myself and really want to play my part as much as anyone but ultimately the satisfying aspect is to see everyone willing to do their jobs to the best of their ability and whether I’m on the pitch or in the dug out that’s what I’m here to do.

One area we know we must improve though if we are to stay up and win games is that in front of the oppositions net, although the Rugby game was a tight affair I feel we had the better of the chances and like I’ve said due to the results the draw wasn’t a disaster. We must find that killer instinct in front of goal to secure the points when the chances are there. Everyone has to take responsibility for this and let’s hope today is the day where that happens.
As this is the final time I get to speak to you via these notes I’d like to say once again thank you all for your support and I promise you it means everything to me and the players and what ever the outcome of this season better days are coming for Gresley and we will be doing everything in our power to make that happen.

Thanks again and see you all soon,
