Gresley Rovers coach Glen West has been sacked. And his dismissal has prompted an astonishing attack on Moat Ground manager Frank Northwood.
In an outspoken and exclusive interview with the Mail West claims he has been made a scapegoat by Northwood.

West, who distinguished himself as a player with a string of top Midlands non-league clubs said: “The wrong man has been sacked – Frank Northwood should go.”

But last night Northwood received the full backing of club chairman Peter Hall who said: “The committee are totally behind the manager. His record speaks for itself.”

Hall revealed that the committee had been at odds with West over his refusal to train the club’s reserve side.

“He was the coach and should have been working for Gresley Rovers.”

Said Northwood: “ I’ve brought the club out of the doldrums and it’s been a lot of hard work. I earn my money but I’m afraid Glen wasn’t earning his.”
