Gresley Rovers last night joined the ranks of early FA Cup giantkillers by sweeping to a 3-1 victory over Gainsborough Trinity at the Moat Ground.
Trailing 1-0, Rovers shocked their Northern Premier League opponents by levelling within four minutes and plundering two goals in the final 15 minutes.

Jubilant boss Frank Northwood said: “I’m over the moon. This was a tough game for us and we had to show a lot of character to pull through it.

“I’m especially pleased for the fans. They turned out in force and they must have gone home very happy. They got right behind us and we gave them the result they wanted.”

Rovers now visit Banks’s League rivals Hinckley Town in the second qualifying round on October 1st.
