Denby stays
Story courtesy of
Midfielder Richard Denby has assured Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood that he will be staying at the Moat Ground for at least another two years.
Northwood revealed Denby’s pledge of loyalty after HFS Loans League Shepshed Charterhouse expressed an interest by putting in seven day’s notice for him.
Burton Albion were also keen on signing him but were told he was not for sale.

Northwood confirmed: “He is going nowhere. We have a great understanding and Shepshed will be getting the same answer as Burton Albion, Richard Denby stays at Gresley.

“If he had gone anywhere it would have been to Burton Albion because they are our neighbours and we have a good relationship.”

John Bottomley, groin strain and Brian Beresford, ankle trouble, are both doubtful for Gresley’s FA Vase second round clash with Paget Rangers at the Moat Ground tomorrow (3pm).

Centre half Martin Haskins makes way for Gil Land, while striker Tracey Norton starts a game for the first time since Boxing Day.
