Albert, also known as Kem, scored on his debut and sadly died in action during World War One.

He was a drummer in the 5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) and was mortally wounded while returning from patrol duty at 2am Sunday 24th June 1917 near Lens and died within half hour of being wounded without regaining consciousness at the age of 28 years. Albert, a Corporal, had only been in France around 11 months after enlisting in November 1914.

He was a Gresley lad and also played cricket for Gresley PM cricket club. A miner by occupation working at Reservoir Pit and Moira Colliery and was a cornet player in Moira Colliery Band.

Albert is buried in Maroc British Cemetery, Grenay, France.
